Study Shows Why Californian Cities Leads US Electric Car Sales

An interesting analysis of the California electric vehicle market was recently published by the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT), providing a nice overview of the effects of various policies and promotional activities in effect there through 2015, as well as lessons for other locations/jurisdictions. The analysis is based around city-level data on electric vehicles […]

Electric Bus Charging Cost Calculator Released For California

As a means of supporting the state’s growing electric bus market, the California Air Resources Board recently released a new downloadable tool online that allows you to easily estimate electricity costs that accompany battery-electric bus deployments in California. The new downloadable tool is a macro-enabled Excel worksheet, so it features fairly wide compatibility. It works by […]

Democratic National Convention Uses Electric Buses Backed By Al Gore

(Note — just as a fun political connection — that Al Gore’s got money in Proterra.) Proterra, SEPTA, and PECO are promoting democracy-supportive transportation at the 2016 Democratic National Convention. Philadelphia has always been a relatively pedestrian- and transit-friendly city. As much of the nation turns its eyes to Philadelphia for the historic 2016 Democratic National Convention (DNC), the […]

BMW i3 Police Car In Italy (Photo)

We’ve reported previously on the fact that there are now BMW i3s in use in various parts of Europe as police cars. In a nod to that previous coverage, the image below (courtesy of Andrea Podda) seemed worth posting. Anyone else see any BMW i3 police cars recently?

Utilities & EVs (EV Obsession Video)

I made a mistake the other day when I said this presentation was perhaps my favorite presentation at the EV Transportation & Technology Summit. I had forgotten about the presentations of a couple of utility guys. The summit had one session with perspectives from 6 different utility reps — JEA’s Peter King, Gulf Power’s Bryan Coley, Duke Energy’s James Culp, FPL’s Todd Jensen, TECO’s Keith […]
