As a means of supporting the state’s growing electric bus market, the California Air Resources Board recently released a new downloadable tool online that allows you to easily estimate electricity costs that accompany battery-electric bus deployments in California.
The new downloadable tool is a macro-enabled Excel worksheet, so it features fairly wide compatibility. It works by estimating both the monthly electricity costs for electric buses that are charged at the depot or charged on route. Numerous variables can be factored in for the 9 different Californian utilities featured.
Notably, the new tool doesn’t account for electric bus electricity usage that’s commingled with existing facilities.
The tool will reportedly be kept up to date with legislation-induced changes to rate structures.
