Norway, Denmark, & Sweden January 2014 Electric Car Sales (Charts)
Alright, time for some more EV sales charts & tables! This article is focused on Norway, Denmark, & Sweden January 2014 electric car sales. For other January 2014 electric car sales or 2013 electric car sales, see the stories linked on the bottom of this article.
Norway EV Sales
The Nissan Leaf gobbled up 55% of Norway’s EV sales in January, which put it clear ahead of the VW e-Up! (15%) and the Tesla Model S (11%). The BMW i3 was the only other EV with notable sales, taking home 7% of the EV sales pie.
Denmark EV Sales
The Nissan Leaf rules again, in this case taking 58% of the EV market. The next two are the same as in Norway but reversed. The Model S snatched 17% of the market with 18 sales. The VW e-Up! started off the year fairly strong — again, nice to see from a newcomer — with 15% (16 sales). After test driving both the Nissan Leaf and the VW e-Up! (see that link and the ones above for more-detailed reviews), I’d personally go with the Leaf, but I think the e-Up! has some advantages and is worth buying instead of the Leaf if your preferences suit those advantages more.
Sweden EV Sales
Wow, look at these newcomers take the top spots in Sweden! It looks like the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is quite the popular option in Sweden as in the Netherlands and Japan. In January, it locked in 26% of EV sales. I’m curious to see how it ends up faring in the 2014 world EV sales ranking. And the VW e-Up! again has a good start, with 17% market share. Kudos to VW! The Nissan Leaf (11%), Toyota Prius PHEV (10%), and Renault Kangoo ZE (9%) round out the top 5 in Sweden.
