Polestar Wins Insider’s “Car of the Year” Award for 2020

Gothenburg, Sweden (December 31, 2020) Polestar cars is thrilled that Insider, the prominent financial and business news website, has named the entire range of Polestar vehicles as the winners of their “Car of the Year” award. As a “first” for the USA-based editorial team, two cars share the accolade in a tie: Polestar 1 and Polestar 2.

Polestar was excited to learn the two winning vehicles are the bookends of its own lineup. Insider’s decision to award two winners was simply a result of a tie between the Polestar 1 and the Polestar 2 for the overall award.

“It’s unconventional for us to name two cars as winners, but as a grand-touring hybrid and a volume-seller electric vehicle, the Polestar 1 and 2 knock it out of the park,” wrote Insider in the award coverage. The full story is now online for reading on the Insider site.

“To have not one but both Polestar models share the Insider Car of the Year award is a real achievement,” says Gregor Hembrough, Head of Polestar North America. “The award is another nod of confidence to our young brand from the highest level, and testament to the hard work of the entire team in bringing these cars to market.”

The Polestar 1 is a hand-built electric performance hybrid GT, boasting 619 horsepower while retaining the longest pure electric range of any hybrid on the market. The Polestar 2 is a fully electric five-door fastback that includes a fully vegan interior as standard. It revolutionizes the in-car experience thanks to the world debut of Google’s Android Automotive OS infotainment system.
