Those considering purchasing a Tesla Model X may be interested to know that CEO Elon Musk recently shared his preferences as far as configuration options go, on Twitter of course. The comments were characteristically rather candid, and provide a bit of insight into the potential upsides/downsides of different options.
When asked about the durability of the white seats (referencing owner reports of tearing), Musk noted that the company was working on a (free) fix for the problem:
@skiesforme Heavy use of the white causes splitting. Adding backing material to strengthen. Will be upgraded at no cost.

And that the color was his preference anyways, despite the issue:
@skiesforme @TeslaMotors That said, the white interior is the best. Highly recommend.

Before also noting that the 6-seat option was preferable to the 7-seat option:
@skiesforme Can't emphasize enough that white is the best interior. Also, pick 6 seats unless you really need 7.

And expounding on his reasoning:
@derekslager @skiesforme yes, it actually performed better than other colors on stain tests. Best not to have vented seats w kids though.

@TLKFremont Great leg room for 3rd row, rear visibility better, easy storage of long cargo.

Musk also recently revealed new details about the launch of the brand in the Irish market…
