One of our readers recently passed along a photograph of a 1914 LIFE magazine ad about “the economical electric.” Interestingly, it talks about electricity “constantly decreasing in cost,” which clearly didn’t hold steady for too long. However, electricity is still far cheaper than gasoline, and that difference is likely to grow in the coming years as oil prices rise.
The ad is apparently for a booklet, “The Story of the Electric Vehicle.” Here the photo from Bob Post (click to embiggen):
