The Renault Zoe EV — a French electric car that is currently sold in France, the UK, Germany, Italy, and Spain — has just gotten an iPad app that is supposed to be pretty innovative. The Renault press release states:
Renault ZOE is now in your hands, thanks to an all-new app. Dive into the world of the full-electric city car and its seductive mix of technology and ecology.
Just like a video game, enjoy ZOE in an astonishingly life-like virtual environment. Check it out from every angle, zoom in, hop inside, and get answers to all your questions from our experts.
The app is actually available in some countries where the Zoe is not yet sold. It’s available in AppStores in Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands, the UK, and Switzerland.
The app will also soon come to Android tablets and thus be available on Google Play.
Unfortunately, not much info has been provided, and I don’t live in any of the countries listed above, so I can’t play with the app (and I don’t have a tablet anyway). A video has been released, but it’s in French and does’t really show anything:
Globally, 3,460 units of the Zoe electric car were sold through the end of May 2013, with 84% (2,878) of those sales being in France.
The Zoe made it into the top 3 of the 2013 World Green Car of the Year awards, along with the Tesla Model S and Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid. The Tesla Model S, of course, ended up taking first place.
