Samsung SDI is showcasing its various lithium-ion electric vehicle (EV) battery technologies at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week, according to recent reports. Interestingly, the company represents the only globally prominent battery manufacturer at the motor show.
The news follows the recent announcement that Audi will be utilizing Samsung SDI cells (in addition to LG Chem cells) for the eventual production version of the e-tron quattro SUV. Presumably, this is also what would be used in the Porsche Mission E… if it is ever built.
Samsung SDI is reportedly presenting a wide array of various battery technologies, including modules that are functional in both EVs and PHEVs.
Samsung SDI’s CEO, Nam Seong Cho, commented: “By strengthening the current and the new partnership at the same time, we will take the lead in the electric automotive era through continuous development of innovative battery.”
