A fleet of Cadillac CT6 plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) is being tested on the East Coast, going by recent comments on an online electric car forum.
To be more specific here, “mczajka” on the GM-Volt.com forum commented recently that he was told in person by an employee at GM’s Baltimore Operations plant that, roughly a week previous to the conversation in question, 5 or 6 Cadillac CT6 PHEVs were brought to the facility. Employees were then given the opportunity to test drive the plug-ins — suggesting that the model is currently undergoing testing.
The only solid comment that he could get from the employee in question was, apparently, that it was a “big car; a lot of power.” Hmmm. Going by our recent test-drive review of the Cadillac ELR, that doesn’t sound half bad…
There are a couple of responses to the posting that are worth highlighting here:
“Raymondjram” commented that:
The Cadillac CT6 Hybrid is way overdue. It should be out by April or May 2016, probably at the same time as the 2016 Chevy Malibu Hybrid. Both sedans are new siblings to the 2016 Chevy Volt, and if both are successfull in sales, we expect GM will put their Voltec power trains into other models, especially SUVs, CUVs and trucks. The smaller sedans and compacts will become hybrids or full BEVs as the 2017 Chevy Bolt EV.
“Taser54” then immediately contradicted him though, stating:
North America won’t get the CT6 PHEV until spring 2017, IIRC. The ICE-only CT6 is scheduled to be produced next spring.
Does anyone here know for sure when it’s expected to be released? Any info is appreciated.
