New ClipperCreek EV Charging Station Announced

A new 40 amp, 240 volt, Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charging station dubbed the HCS-50 was recently unveiled by the company ClipperCreek.

The new charging station — which is rated for both indoor and outdoor installations — is retailing for $835, and is now available for purchase. Those interested also have access to a plug-in version — the HCS-50P, featuring a NEMA 6-50 plug — for $859.

As the new offering is intended for both commercial and residential use, it has access to a 3-year warranty, is built fairly ruggedly (reportedly, I haven’t used it), and includes a 25-foot charger cable.

“We used rubber over-molding to fully seal the connector’s head and increase the durability. That’s critical in commercial and fleet environments. The rubber cable jacket increases low temperature flexibility of the cable, so it’s also a great station for colder climates,” stated Jason France, President and Founder of ClipperCreek.

“The HCS-50’s rugged design and ample 25 foot charging cable make it a perfect solution for fleet and commercial applications,” chimed in Will Barrett, ClipperCreek Sales Manager. “The HCS-50 is a great addition to our product line. As battery range increases, the vehicle’s ability to accept power is increasing, too, and the HCS-50 offers users extra power to get their vehicles charged up and back on the road fast.”

The HCS-50P allows for 50 amp charging via NEMA 50 amp outlets; and the HCS-50 for 40 amp charging, with the design allowing for roughly 30 miles of range gained per hour of charging for vehicles set up for level 2 charging.
