Fastned Partnering With The Hague To Develop 5 New EV Fast-Charging Stations

The Hague will soon be home to 5 new electric vehicle fast-charging stations, following the announcement of a new partnership with Fastned, according to an email sent to EV Obsession.

The partnership will see the 5 new electric vehicle (EV) stations installed sometime in 2016. Fastned reportedly intends to follow this installation with others in other cities in the region.

A recent press release provides more:

Fastned is building the world’s first network of fast-charging stations where all electric cars can charge within 20 minutes. Currently the company has 44 stations operational and with the construction of one station per week this number is increasing rapidly. By building fast-charging stations Fastned plays on the growing number of electric cars in the city and the need to recharge quickly.

The cofounder of Fastned, Bart Lubbers, commented: “Stations in the city make our network complete. Electric drivers want to charge their car where the battery is empty and that can be in the city as well as along the highway. In the Netherlands the majority of the people don’t have their own driveway. Also these people want to drive electric and that makes public fast-charging stations essential. The Hague understands this well and is the first city in the Netherlands getting the fast-charging stations.”

The alderman of Finance, Traffic, Transport, and Environment of the city of The Hague, Tom de Bruijn, commented as well: “More and more people are switching to an electric car. A positive development that The Hague stimulates as much as possible because electric transport is clean and cheap. The growth of electric cars also increases the need for good charging infrastructure. That’s why the 5 new fast-charging stations are a great asset to The Hague. I am happy with the agreement with Fastned and have total confidence that this will result in an excellent collaboration.”

The new stations will reportedly be able to “provide a capacity of 150 cars per day”. These stations are set to be sited along busy city streets.
