A new Beginners’ Guide to Going Electric has been launched this World EV Day (Thursday 9 September) to help buyers explore making the switch to an electric vehicle.
Created by Electrifying.com and the Department for Transport, the guide provides practical advice and top tips, as well as information on the incentives available to help persuade drivers to make the jump to electric.
The zero-emission car market in the UK is accelerating quickly. With more models coming onto the market every month, one in seven cars sold this year has a plug.
The jointly created guide, hosted on Electrifing.com, arrives as the as the UK prepares to host the COP26 climate summit this November. The launch of the guide also coincides with an exclusive video interview with Rachel Maclean MP, which can be viewed here.
Rachel Maclean MP, Minister for the Future of Transport and Decarbonisation, said: “Driving is woven into the fabric of our everyday lives, and as we prepare for the mass adoption of electric vehicles, driver awareness and knowledge of zero emission vehicles is a crucial part of the transition.
“Our vision is to have one of the best infrastructure networks in the world for electric vehicles, and we want chargepoints to be accessible, affordable and secure. That’s why we have announced £1.3 billion to accelerate the roll out of charging infrastructure.”
Teaming up with Electrifying.com, the government is increasingly working with industry to provide more tools and practical advice for drivers, helping to facilitate the transition to electric vehicles.
Founder of Electrifying.com Ginny Buckley said: “We know that switching to an electric car can be a daunting prospect with a host of new information to absorb and jargon to cut through. But it’s not as complicated as it may seem, and our research shows that once you’ve gone electric you won’t want to go back to a petrol or diesel car.
“We’re delighted to have teamed up with the Government to help clear the air for drivers with a straightforward, unbiased and jargon-free guide for World EV Day.”
