Not all of the protestors in Grünheide are NIMBY protestors against Tesla. Many are, but there are some there who are welcoming Tesla and have been wanting to show support — so they did.
Tesla is drawing protests because it has to cut down trees in order to build Gigafactory 4 near Berlin, Germany. Tesla has already promised to plant three times as many trees as it cuts down and is working with officials on making that happen.

Although we were in the minority at our first "Pro TESLA " demo 😌 yesterday, and there was no or little press coverage in Germany, we still have the best and largest Tesla community on the net.❤✌👌
Thank you so much for all the good wishes.🙏💞🇩🇪🚗 pic.twitter.com/JfTpBIz5JM— Gigafactory Berlin News (@Gf4Tesla) January 19, 2020
Tesla’s new production capacity at its fourth Gigafactory will help replace gas-powered vehicles with EVs, and the impact of this on the environment will not only benefit the entire planet but will help humanity to not destroy this planet. Many companies have contributed to deforestation and have financially benefitted from it. In the case of Tesla, these funds will be reinvested into more development of environmentally beneficial products and not simply pocketed by a CEO with the goals of cashing in big at the expense of others.
Tesla isn’t just some random giant corporation that is coming to destroy trees, make money, and kill the planet. In fact, this is the first time Tesla had to cut down trees to build a factory. Hopefully, it will be the last time it has to do this and the trees that it will plant will grow up to see a better environment created. This is why there are people protesting for Tesla rather than against it. They see the bigger picture — they see the planet and not just a forest.

Hopefully, these trees that are cut down will be put to good use and be used in a way in which the wood is recycled later on instead of ending up in a landfill. Tesla is one of the few companies that actually cares enough about the planet to fully make products that benefit it as a whole.
Tip of the hat to Teslarati
