Dongfeng Nissan’s first electric vehicle, the Venucia e30, has just been launched in China. The starting price for the Venucia e30 is RMB 267,800 (~$43,665). The cost of running the e30 is about 1/7 that of “comparable” gasmobiles in China. The Venucia e30 is essentially a Chinese Nissan Leaf.
As almost every electric car manufacturer has done, Nissan teamed up with Chinese company Dongfeng Motor in order to be eligible for important Chinese government incentives (such as a purchase tax exemption). The joint venture’s EV brand is Venucia.
A quick charge can provide the Venucia e30 with about 60 kilometers of range in 5 minutes.
The first cities to get the Venucia e30 are Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dalian, Wuhan, Tianjin, Zhengzhou, and Hangzhou. However, the car will be available nationwide in 2015.
