Tesla Terafactory Shows Up On Tesla Navigation Maps 👀👀

Austin Tesla Club recently noticed something new showing up on Tesla Navigation Maps. Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, previously announced that the company was scouting locations for its next gigafactory (or terafactory), and he and others have hinted at Texas many times. The location, if it does end up being in Texas, has seemingly been discovered by the Austin Tesla Club as a spot in Hutto, which is 22 miles northeast of Austin, Texas.

The photos above provided by Austin Tesla Club show detailed directions to the Tesla Terafactory and the full address. Tesmanian, when sharing this story, noted that Tesla had already acquired a site near Austin. In the navigation system it’s not confirmed to be the site of the terafactory that will build the Model Y and Cybertruck, but is rather labeled as “Tesla Terafactory Texas — option.”

Tesla actually purchased this particular property in Hutto in 2014 — as well as the Sparks property in Nevada — as a finalist for the first Tesla gigafactory, which wound up being in Nevada.

A satellite image provided in the video by Torque News (below) shows an area that is conveniently located near Route 79. This makes the site easily accessible for those driving from Austin (25 minutes give or take depending on traffic).

Thoughts on Tesla Terafactory

Wherever it is built, one thing we know is that Tesla wants the terafactory to produce Model Y vehicles by the end of this year and the Cybertruck eventually.

As for the factory being in Texas, it makes sense. Tesla, a company that disrupts the fossil fuel industry, needs a foothold in oil states. Texas, despite being one of the largest producers of solar and wind power, still has that reputation of being an oil state.

Texas is all about growing its economy, in every way. Another thing about Texas that many outside the state don’t realize is that, for employees, there is no state income tax, perhaps something anyone relocation from elsewhere in the company would appreciate.
