Rumors have been swirling that the Chevy Spark EV could soon get a national rollout as dealers seem eager to get their hands on the little EV. Already Chevy dealers in Ohio and Connecticut are showing interest in the Spark EV, and apparently so is a dealership in Puerto Rico.
That’s the word from the GM-Volt forums, where member Raymondjram reports that his local Chevy dealer has about 30 conventional Chevy Sparks on site, but no EVs. It’s not for a lack of want, but import tariffs mean a car like the Chevy Volt would have to be sold for $50,000 or more.
But the cheaper Spark EV could find a home in Puerto Rico if GM decides to sell it there. It’d be the perfect place for the short range EV, as the whole island only stretches 106 miles from end to end.
For now though these are only rumors and the hopes of an island EV enthusiast. If the Spark EV does come to Puerto Rico though, we’re sure GM will make a big deal about it.
