A Stephen Powelson recently created a pretty super video of the Tesla Fremont factory using a Phantom 3 drone.
I caught word of the video when Stephen dropped it over in the Tesla Motors Club forum, his first post there. Much of the discussion there tapers off into a discussion on the legality of flying a drone over private property and people, and whether or not Stephen could get in trouble for what he did.
Anyway, this is what he wrote in response to the legal concerns and questions about which drone he used: “I figured since there are plenty of Tesla gigafactory drone videos floating around (which also involve a drone flying over Tesla owned private property) that flying the drone over the Fremont factory wouldn’t be a big issue. If it were an issue, I would have found out by now because I already forwarded the video to my former Tesla coworkers (I was an engineer there for 4.5 years, took a new job a few months ago). They all loved it. The drone is a Phantom 3. I primarily use it for making nature scenery type videos but I figured the factory would make a cool video.”
By the way, one astute viewer, “rtz,” noticed what looked like three Tesla Model X SUVs on the left side of the screen at 1:44 in, two exposed (but in camo) and one covered. Sharp eyes!
Here’s the video for your own viewing pleasure:
