EV Supercar Exagon Furtive eGT Will Be On Sale In 2013

I’m not a big fan of supercars, to be honest, but you can’t not report on them, especially when there are announcements about such cars going on sale! Here’s news from Gas2 regarding the Exagon Furtive eGT supercar going on sale next year:

Pure electric cars may not have a lot of buyers among the common people, but the uber wealthy can’t get enough of them. Electric sports car builders are popping up left and right with the promise of delivering an electrifying driving experience, but few are as far along as the Exagon Furtive eGT, which has announced that their EV supercar will begin limited sales next year.

Back in August, the Exagon Furtive eGT was tested on the famous “North Loop” of the Nurburgring. There the electric supercar reportedly reached speeds of up to 149 mph at the hands of the Lady of the Ring, Sabine Schmitz.

This is thanks to two large-but-light electric motors that weigh in at just 115 pounds each despite delivering a combined 402 horsepower. That allows the Furtive eGT to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, and reach a top on-track speed of 178 mph.

Also on board for the ride is a 53 kWh battery pack from Saft that reportedly allows the Furtive eGT to go between 180 and 224 miles per charge. Not bad for an electric supercar. In fact, that is more range, and a faster top speed, than the $537,000 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive supercar. This isn’t just some design study either; Exagon plans to begin selling limited numbers of the eGT early next year.

Then there is the optional range extender, which can add nearly 300 miles of driving range to this EV supercar. Combined with a carbon fiber body, an aluminum motor frame, and sleek looks, the Exagon Furtive GT has a lot to recommend it to the well-heeled green gearhead.
