A Toronto, Canada, condo by the name of “Bside at Minto Westside” has taken a somewhat new approach to selling condos + parking spaces — offer prospective buyers a free Nissan LEAF with such a purchase.
To be specific, the offer seems to be there for buyers who purchase a parking space equipped with an electric vehicle (EV) charging station along with a new condo — then you get a Nissan LEAF for free.
As always with these sorts of deals, taking a close look at the fine print is probably a good idea, but at first glance, it does sound like the sort of thing that might appeal to a number of people.
The Director of Conservation and Sustainable Design at Minto, Wells Baker, commented: “Our goal is to design for the future. Installing EV chargers at Bside gives residents who want a vehicle in the city the ability to make an affirmative environmental decision. That alone is a huge step forward, but we wanted to take that next step and actually incentivize a decision towards the more sustainable option.”
Going on: “The majority of high-rise buildings are faced with the challenge of overcoming a lack of infrastructure and space required for transformers needed to install electrical vehicle chargers. Bside is aiming to set a new benchmark in Toronto. It’s being developed with a dedicated transformer for EV chargers as well as space to add additional chargers as demand grows.”
For those interested, the Bside at Minto Westside is located at 25 Bathurst Street and offers 500- to 950-square-foot condos starting in the low $200,000s. More information can be found at the website here.
