Tesla Comes To Spain!

Tesla has now officially launched in Spain. What this means is that those in the country who want to purchase a Model S sedan or a Model X SUV can now do so directly through the company’s online design studio, according to an email sent to CleanTechnica and EV Obsession.

Accompanying this official launch in the Southern European market, Tesla will be opening stores and service centers in Madrid and Barcelona in the second half of 2017 — just in time for the official launch of the Model 3 (though, the mid-range offering won’t likely hit the European market until 2018).

In addition to the current benefits for Model S and Model X buyers, the expansion into the Spanish market will make things a lot easier for Model 3 reservation holders once deliveries in Europe begin — as the service centers will be much closer than would otherwise be the case.

Presumably, Tesla is also working hard to expand its Supercharger network (superfast charging network) in the region in anticipation of the Model 3 launch. That’s what the station status page on the company’s website seems to show.

The move into the Spanish market follows closely on the company’s official launch in New Zealand. Expectations are that the company will be launching in India, South Korea, and a number of other large (or simply enthusiastic-about-Tesla) markets within the next year or so.
