Elon Musk Gives Talk At Tesla Paris

Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently stopped off at the company’s showroom in Paris, France, to give a presentation, more or less detailing the company’s plans for Europe over the next few years. He touched on a number of topics that don’t seem to ever leave the news cycle, but also some that we haven’t heard as much about.

Amongst the most notable comments was addressing the timing of Model X deliveries in the territory — he was quoted as saying that if you already have one on order, then you’re going to get it sometime this summer. He also noted that he was expecting Model X production levels to equal those of the Model S by the second quarter of 2016.

While doing a bit of a sales pitch on the Model X, Musk commented: “You’re going to love it. It is really something special. The X is a better SUV than the S is a sedan.”

Teslarati provides more:

Musk began by saying that his father had brought him to Paris when he was 6 years old and that had inspired him to study French in high school. He then favored the audience with a few phrases in French, which those in attendance very kindly pretended to understand.

… Later in the presentation, Elon said Tesla will continue expanding its Supercharger network in Europe. There are a number of charging locations in Paris and northern France, but the network will be adding Superchargers in southern France, Spain, Portugal, and Italy before the end of the year. It also intends to push into eastern Europe, including Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Russia.

Note that we’ve already caught a glimpse of a Supercharger being installed in Poland.

Musk also commented that the development of a European factory was still in the works, but no time frame was revealed. He did note that he expected Model 3 production to begin in China only “about 3 years” from now, though.
