BMW will be giving the eDrive BMW 330e plug-in hybrid its North American debut at the upcoming 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show in mid-November, according to recent reports.
Those interested in seeing the eDrive BMW 330e plug-in hybrid (PHEV) in person at the show will be able to find it (and other BMW cars) at the BMW Stand at the Los Angeles Convention Center (1201 South Figueroa Street) starting on Wednesday, November 18.
For those unfamiliar with the new plug-in BMW, the model will feature a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor. The PHEV will possess 248 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, and will reportedly do 0–60 miles per hour in just 5.9 seconds. Driving range for a tank of gas will reportedly be ~373 miles. The all-electric range is reportedly 25 miles.
The BMW eDrive BMW 330e PHEV will reportedly be making its debut in US showrooms in the spring (2016).
The recent press release also provides some information on the BMW X5 xDrive40e, which will be making its North American debut at the show as well:
The BMW X5 xDrive40e is the company’s first eDrive Sports Activity Vehicle, charts the next chapter of BMW’s ongoing EfficientDynamics initiative. Benefitting from the groundbreaking work with BMW i on electromobility, the X5 xDrive40e combines the company’s award-winning 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine with an electric motor integrated into its 8-speed automatic transmission. The BMW X5 xDrive40e can travel approximately 13 miles on pure electric propulsion, powered by a lithium-ion battery, ideally suited for short commutes and quick trips around town yielding an impressive 56 MPGe. Combined, the gasoline engine and electric motor put out 308 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, enough to propel the X5 xDrive40e from 0-60 mph in just 6.5 seconds.

Problem with germans is they can’t quit with big engines, because they are obsessed with autobahn speed. 13 miles of EV range means also that the maximum electric power is limited, so every harder push on the pedal will start the ICE, no matter the SOC.
Good idea to cheat in the NEDC mileage rating, but useless in everyday driving.
